Stone and Glass, R&D

I have access to hot glass facilities in my current job at Cumbria Crystal. i have been using this time to test different stones compatibility with glass. I have tried onyx, flint, granite, and slate without success.

I looked to the matterials already used in glass making and discovered quartz has a simmilar cohesion of expansion as glass does. Having tried severlal techniques, temperatures and pre-heats of materials, I have been able to enclose a quartz stone in a glass hand, as well as completely encasing quartz in solid glass without either material breaking.

Quarts is definatly a matterial that can be combined with glass, it is however a hard stone to shape and requires grinding to sculpt it into forms. I aim to make a glass hand with quartz bones encased inside.
